VOLUME 9
FRANCK TORTILLER 2005-2008

2012, AJON / Abeille Musique

In September 2005, at the dawn of its twenties, the ONJ saw vibraphone-player and composer Franck Tortiller take its reins.
Tortiller had already brilliantly distinguished himself elsewhere, notably in the ranks of Mathias Ruëgg’s Vienna Art Orchestra, where he spent ten years.

Surrounding himself with a team of expert soloists — most of whom had already been accompanying him on the road for a long time — Tortiller imposed his own concept of the repertoire, which stood out by its transversal nature and an eclecticism which was fully assumed.

The final volume of the “ONJ Story” collection covers the career of Tortiller’s ONJ between 2005 and 2008, and invites you to discover its two albums: Close to Heaven, an inspired re-reading of the energetic rock supplied by the legendary British band Led Zeppelin and Electrique, a programme of original repertoire inspired by the electric jazz of the Seventies.
