Pianist, composer, arranger

A former chemical engineer well versed in both Schubert and Louis Amstrong and a self-taught improviser mixing strains of Thelonious Monk and Serge Prokoviev, pianist Guillaume de Chassy has forged a unique musical personality. He's performed and recorded with many artists, including Paul Motian, Mark Murphy, André Minvielle, David Linx, Paolo Fresu, Sara Lazarus, Gian Luigi Trovesi, Enrico Rava and Olivier Ker Ourio. A musician without boundaries, he's also collaborated with classical pianist Brigitte Engerer, filmmaker Antoine Carlier (Wonderful World, in a duo with Daniel Yvinec) and flamenco dancer Ana Yerno. As a holder of a CA (Certificat d’aptitudes) degree in Jazz and a sought after teacher, Guillaume de Chassy has been at the head of the Jazz Department at the Conservatoire in Tours for several years.
