Annabelle
Tiaffay

Photographer

Annabelle Tiaffay grew up near the seaside resorts of the FRENCH Atlantic coast, in an environment that gave her a taste for the wide open spaces she began to photograph in the 90s. Fashion photography was the fruit of a miraculous encounter in 2002 with Jean-Jacques Bugat, whose assistant she became and who taught her the technique and secrets of the art. Strongly influenced by the cinema of Bergman, Antonioni and Marguerite Duras, her own approach, in fashion as well as architectural photography, tends toward abstraction and graphic power, seeking through the juxtaposition of images to make felt a vibration between subject and space. A prizewinner in 2003's Profoto competition in Paris, she has since published several series of photographs in various fashion magazines both in France and abroad, created visuals for luxury brands Weston and Michel Perry and taken part in numerous collaborative ventures with jazz musicians, whose universe she shares.
