The talents of musician & composer Sylvain Bardiau can be heard in the many music-genres where he's completely at home: jazz, electro-acoustic, metal, funk, salsa, reggae and afro-groove, not to mention French popular music. Now aged 35, he's shown himself to be an insatiable explorer in the course of his career, preferring ensembles where writing and improvisation go hand in hand, with research into abstract noise-music a particular feature of his work. His brilliant use of electronics has driven back the sound-limits of both his own instrument and also those of the slide trumpet, bugle and tuba, which he also plays. A sought-after partner who's appreciated both onstage and on record, Sylvain Bardiau also works in parallel on his own solo projects, among them Journal Intime, the virtuoso brass trio in which he plays with Fred Gastard and Matthias Mahler.
