TUMBLEPHASE

PAUL BROUSSEAU keyboards, sampling, composition
ROMAIN BERCÉ drums, programming, sampling

After his various “electronic” collaborations with Olivier Sens, Martux-M, Michel Benita, Matthieu Metzger, Pablo Cruz or the unavoidable Philippe “Pipon” Garcia (Cosmic Connection), it was in 2013 that Paul Brousseau chose to create TUMBLEPHASE as his own laboratory for producing electronic music.

A pioneering musician in current forms of music, Brousseau found an ideal partner for his venture in Romain Bercé (Axis Chemical, NUNC, Georges Latex). A superlatively-gifted drummer and “all-round fairground juggler”, Romain is just as much at home behind his chosen instrument as he is with the machine-tools used to produce and finalize sound.

Ranging from post-hip-hop and techno to jazz and rugged dubstep, the music of TUMBLEPHASE proposes a heavy dancefloor sound, a “projective” universe that leans towards a form of trance-music sequenced as “clutch, hold and release”: Sensuality.
Cascades of churning bass open themselves to the listener like as many tides… and become seas for the duo to surf, not only over but also under the waves.

The two musicians are both self-taught multi-instrumentalists and electronic music producers, and here they combine in a set which relates to both improvised music-forms and drum & bass.
