The first ONJ season devised by Daniel Yvinec invites us to travel into an exciting world of encounters, striking and unique not only in the directions they take but in the associations they reveal. It is dedicated in part to two of music's great names, Robert Wyatt and Billie Holiday, major emblematic artists for whom Yvinec has conceived two programmes, the first a collaboration with the majestic singer/poet, the second evoking the memory of one of jazz's greatest stars. The veritable treasures of their respective musical universes are reappropriated by new arrangements and revealed in a hitherto unimagined light refracted through the prism of a surprising orchestral geometry. The third adventure will celebrate with precision and passion the marriage of music and cinema, in the form of an original ONJ soundtrack to Cecil B. DeMille's silent film Carmen, building exciting new bridges between the two venerable artforms.
Whether arrangers, instrumentalists, vocalists, actors, filmmakers, graphic artists or photographes…, Daniel Yvinec has, for his personal projects, gathered around him a constellation of talents both well known and yet to be discovered, as diverse as they are passionate. Creators of worlds, magicians of orchestral and vocal finery, the artists he's chosen to work with the ONJ will blend with the orchestra so that each adventure will be unique, both to look at as well as listen to. In keeping with the spirit of openness and sharing with the public, Daniel Yvinec has federated the personalities supporting his approach through a sponsorship committee.
