Franck Tortiller

The son of an amateur musician, young Franck took up the drums in his native Burgundy, and was soon playing in local balls. He decided to study classical percussion, first in Dijon, then in Paris, while continuing to play popular and improvised music, and was awarded First Prizes in Percussion (unanimous) and Music Analysis at the CNSM, Paris, as well as First Prizes in Orchestral and Solo Percussion at the Concours national de jazz de La Défense.

Along with numerous personal projects (solo, duo, trio...), Franck has kept in touch with collaborators both regular (Vienna Art Orchestra, Claude Barthélemy, Jean-Marc Padovani...) and occasional (Orchestre Pasdeloup, Orchestre de Massy, Mike Mainieri, Dave Samuels, Sanseverino, Arthur H...).Devoting a large part of his time to writing, he has signed numerous compositions and commissions (Radio France, Jazz sous les Pommiers, Scène nationale Le Creusot..) and is also the founder of the Jazz à Couches Festival (71).
