VOLUME 8
CLAUDE BARTHÉLEMY 2002-2005

2012, AJON / Abeille Musique

Eleven years after his first mandate as ONJ Director, Claude Barthélemy was invited back as a “recidivist”, a first in the orchestra’s history.

For this new, second mandate, Claude recruited a galaxy of musicians on the way up: “With that new ONJ,” he said, “I was able to verify the full effects of fifteen years of teaching jazz in conservatories as a matter of policy.”
In the two mandates, his leader’s role obviously changed a lot: “My first ONJ allowed me to assert myself as a jazz musician; until then I’d always been considered just an eclectic guitarist. The second authorized me to play at being an actors’ director, to genuinely produce today’s world music and drive the orchestra towards elsewheres in jazz.”

Which is what Volume 8 in the collection invites you to discover, via Admirabelamour and La Fête de l’eau, the two albums which marked the second episode of the ONJ under Claude Barthélemy.
