{"id":19604,"date":"2025-03-15T11:08:09","date_gmt":"2025-03-15T10:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onj.org\/?post_type=programme&#038;p=19604"},"modified":"2026-01-07T18:33:26","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T17:33:26","slug":"with-carla","status":"publish","type":"programme","link":"https:\/\/www.onj.org\/en\/programme\/with-carla\/","title":{"rendered":"With Carla"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ONJ25_CONTENT_BLOCK ONJ25_CHAPEAU\"><p><strong>The ONJ taps the major figure of jazz Carla Bley and her unclassifiable work in a joyful tribute to the many facets of her creative genius<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"ONJ25_CONTENT_BLOCK ONJ25_COLONNES ONJ25_COLONNES_2\"><p>The inaugural program of Sylvaine H\u00e9lary&#8217;s tenure as Artistic Director of the ONJ, <em>With Carla<\/em> revisits protean universe of American composer.\u00a0 A pianist, composer, magnificent arranger, conductor, but also rebellious, shy, wild, adventurous, and fiercely independent, this prolific American artist left behind a treasure trove of scores and recordings.<\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with the inventive saxophonist R\u00e9mi Sciuto, who co-wrote the arrangements with Sylvaine H\u00e9lary, the orchestra offers a panoramic journey in 11 tracks, from her \u201chits\u201d <em>(Musique M\u00e9canique, \u00datviklingssang, Ups and Downs)<\/em>, to orchestral frescoes <em>(Major)<\/em>, via gentle or humorous songs <em>(Very Very Simple)<\/em>, chamber moments and unbridled rhythms (<em>Wrong Key Donkey<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Led by 17 exceptional soloists, this program aims to resurrect the in\ufb02uence of the woman who was the model for many musicians, and celebrates her work by approaching it in a new light.
